How do you use Atlassian and non-Atlassian tools together? How do you transfer data between them?

Howdy Y’all!

As a Product Designer on the Work Management team at Atlassian, we are striving to enhance our products' interoperability - to make our tools truly work better together. And in the spirit of “Better, Together” we have been engaging with teams from various domains within the Work Management ecosystem and discovered that not only do they work across Atlassian tools but many of them regularly collaborate across different software platforms and packages entirely. Our goal is to make Atlassian better together for everyone, including both Atlassian products and third-party tools.

I am thrilled to share some exciting updates from the Jira Work Management team who has been working diligently towards expanding and improving their data migration capabilities into the Atlassian ecosystem. They recently released a new CSV importer, making it easier for users to import data from other third-party apps.

So questions for the community to help us on our path:

• Tell me about the last time you imported data into Atlassian. What was the reason for moving the data over and how did you do it?

• Do you and your team frequently have to move data into Atlassian products from other non-Atlassian products? What tools are you moving data from and why?

I just imported over 700 records because we are moving from several different trackers to JWM.  I have another 1600 to move and I would like to use this new feature.  When will it actually be available?  I just went to the Issues page in my project and clicked on Import Issues and it kicked me out to the regular importer.  I don't have this view.

Hey @Denise Watson currently this new JWM CSV import functionality is only available when creating a new project - the team is working to expand functionality to allow importing into an already active project but that's not quite ready yet. 

I added some screenshots to where you can find the new importer, would love to hear your thoughts!

I’m very new to this group and maybe not entirely sure about the technical terms for things- so please bear with me 

I can extract client data from my business operating system in csv files but have no idea how we could use Trello to help us connect to our clients better. 

any ideas or integrations would be amazing
