Seeking Feedback on My Atlassian Certification Path for Cloud

Filipe Guedes March 27, 2024

I'm embarking on a journey to deepen my expertise in Atlassian tools, with a specific focus on Jira and Confluence for Cloud, and I would greatly appreciate your feedback and insights on the certification path I'm considering.

Here's the certification path I'm planning to take:

ACP-620 Managing Jira Cloud Projects Certification: I'm starting here to solidify my foundation in managing projects within Jira Cloud, aiming to grasp the essential functionalities, configuration best practices, and project management roles.

ACP-120 Jira Administration for Cloud Exam: Following the ACP-620, I intend to tackle the ACP-120 to dive deeper into the administrative capabilities of Jira Cloud. This step is crucial for me to learn about advanced configurations, user management, workflow customization, and integrating third-party add-ons effectively.

I would love to hear from you all:

  • Your experiences and insights: If you've taken these certifications, what was your journey like? Any tips, resources, or study practices you found invaluable?
  • Recommendations on additional resources or certifications: Are there other courses or materials that complement these certifications, particularly those focusing on automation within Atlassian tools?
  • General advice: Any pitfalls to avoid or best practices to embrace as I embark on this path?

Your feedback will be incredibly valuable to me as I navigate through this learning process. Thank you in advance for your support and guidance!

@Filipe Guedes You've already received a lot of good responses about studying for the ACP-620/ACP-120. Speaking from within the Atlassian certification team, I would also like to promote our new Associate certifications which you can try first. These exams have only 25 questions, cost $100, and last 1 hour. There are two related to Jira Software:

The second has content that overlaps with ACP-620 and it will give you an idea of how the questions are structured. You will also get a feeling for how to take such an exam -- whether in-person at a testing center or online via remote proctoring. Good luck, Felipe! You can do it.

Hi @Filipe Guedes ,

Personally, I would say this is the best path when starting with certifications. ACP-620 is indeed quite easy compared to some other exams. As you may have read already, it is recommended to go through official resources but also to focus on topics/items with which you maybe don't work so often. In the ACP-620 context and for myself, these were probably project reports. In case you're taking an exam remotely, I would suggest checking some comments and feedback on this post.

After 620, ACP-120 would be the logical next step as it 'builds up' on topics from managing projects part. And in case you want to build 120 up, you can go for ACP-520 as it covers everything from both exams and more.

As for some additional resources, I would say searching for "ACP-620" and/or "ACP-120" will get you pretty far. There are some really cool stuff from the members such as JQL best practices for exam(s).

Anyway, good luck with the exam 🤞

Cheers,
Tom

I am doing the same, 620 to 120 and then will decide what to do next from there like maybe 520.

Currently the official training for 620 has been removed for use by Atlassian till May 1st so I decided I will do the new cert ACA Atlassian Cloud Foundations and I am thinking about the ACA Jira Software Board Configuration.

I will also join that LinkedIn group, thanks @Perisic Nikola for that!

For 620 and 120 prep I really went back to the basics as I have been a Jira Site Admin for about 2 yrs now but just learned by doing and when I got stuck I went to YouTube or Atlassian documentation. So I did 4 of the foundation training badges, I’m reading an older book called Practical Jira Administration, I’m watching two different people on YouTubes multiple playlists, one of them is ApeTech Tech Tutorials, I’m doing the how to playlist right now. I got a course on Udemy, and I was going to get the $39 course next week from Atlassian but I’ll wait till May for that, and I think when you buy a voucher for the cert it comes with some prep course as well. I was also told to go down the list of what’s going to be on the cert test and research the topics more.

Edit: Also My work paid for the "JumpStart Jira TTDV7540-TTOE" and it's a 2 day live training course, mine is scheduled for mid April.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the feedback, this sounds great! Is the JumpStart Jira TTDV7540-TTOE by a specific company? I found a couple after googling.

Also added you on LinkedIn if you don't mind and we can connect there as well.

Yes, I think my company went through Global Knowledge, but they really seem to be a middle man on this, the company actually providing this training on April 15-16 is TriveraTech or Trivera Technologies.

I actually signed up for this back in November for December, but it kept getting rescheduled due to low interest, its finally going to happen this month it seems as they are sending out all the course stuff.

Welcome @Filipe Guedes

Very interesting indeed, since we are following the same path. I am also starting with the ACP-620.

In this group: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/9391262/, Husein is posting a lot of great tips and one of them is the actually passing of ACP-620 exam. Many of people have said that this is the easiest one and the ACP-120 is the hardest.
