How to Delete a User from Opsgenie

Before a user can be deleted, they must be removed from all escalations, schedules, integrations, etc.

Users can be deleted from the Users list under Settings> Users.

If you need to remove a user, Opsgenie will prompt you to remove them from some parts of the system to ensure that there aren't gaps in coverage. If the user is referenced anywhere, it will be noted in a pop-up when attempting to delete the user.

The pop-up contains clickable links, which will bring you to the page to remove the user from those specific pages. In this case, our user is targeted in an escalation and is a member of a rotation on a schedule.

To remove from the escalation, you'll find the escalation step the user is referenced in and edit it.

After updating that step in the escalation, be sure to save before selecting 'Update' at the bottom.

To remove a user from a schedule, you'll need to remove them from the rotation that they are a member of on that schedule. You may need to edit the rotation to view all of the members.

In the participant's list, you can delete the user by clicking the 'x' next to their name.

Note: When making changes, the schedule gets built out again from the 'Starts on' date & time configured on the rotation. This article details how to remove the user while keeping the final schedule intact.

Once references to the user are removed from the system, you can now remove them from your user's list.
