Trusted source of Atlassian Talent

Aaron Rowsell May 8, 2024

I'm really curious about this but for all those who seek Atlassian Talent be it for:

  • Filling a skills gap in one of your teams
  • Supporting a time sensitive project
  • Building a new team to support a new company initiative
  • etc etc

My question is:

How do you typically hire:

  • Contractors?
  • Perm FTE?

Do you use an agency or do you try and hire directly yourselves?

Last question:

What issues/challenges have you found so far with the method you have chosen?

As a supplier of ClearHub for both contractors and FTE's globally, I'm curious to know if you, as a hiring manager, would have the same issue/challenges if you started to use an Atlassian Partner who specialises in providing Atlassian talent.

I am no longer a hiring manager, but when I was, Atlassian Administration was a subset of 2 roles:

-Sr. IT Project/Program Management and also a Jira/Confluence Admin

or

-More likely than not part of an IT Services Help Desk role.

9/10 these are contract roles in my experience working in IT Services orgs and F500.

If internal and you knew Atlassian Products you would be annointed and have it added to your roles and responsibilities being on an Atlassian board with different departmental team members.

As a former PMO./AMPO Director, learning Atlassian products and MS ADO were key requirements for my consultants. I had them on learning and certification paths.

Thank you Theresa for your insight.

Yes, I believe for a number of environments that would be the same or similar for those who are both enabling and strategising a team/department.

My curiosity is more around when there is no option within the team and the company to call upon because the knowledge gap is too far and would take too long for what was needed.

Would you hire? If so would it be through your own procurement department? Would you utilise a support services contract through an Atlassian partner? Would you use a Recruitment Agency or would you go to a supplier who's specialises in distributing Atlassian contractors.

There is no wrong answer to this, I'm just trying to get an understanding what is more comfortable for those who have to make those decisions.

@Aaron Rowsell I would hire someone. However realisticly those are the roles and there would also be an IT security element.
