How to enable / disable Time tracking based on the issue status.

GL Communications May 2, 2024

Hi,

We have recently introduced JIRA to our team. Users are still learning how to use JIRA properly. One common mistake we are seeing is they start working on an issue without changing its status from Todo to any of the InProgress state.

We want to restrict editing Time tracking until they move the task to InPrgress. How to do this without any add-ons. Please guide us.

Thanks.

Hi there!

Here is a resource form the Knowledge Base explaining how to do this. This is for Server, but still works on Cloud:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-restrict-log-work-on-a-specific-status-834225982.html

Basically on the Status you want to block the Block Log work, you add the following property:

jira.permission.work.denied

with value True.

Hope this helps!
