Displaying progress from Jira delivery tickets - Hierarchy

Richard_Donnell April 23, 2024

think that the overall progression bar based on the statuscategory of the linked Delivery Jira tickets is not working IF you link to a ticket that is higher in the Jira Hierarchy than Epic.

think it is not exploring the entire hierarchy when calculating the overall progress.

I have mixed a single 'Feature' that contains 2 epics and several story tickets, plus two other story tickets directly. The overall number of tickets it is counting is 4 (e.g. 2 of 4 in progress)  So it seems the 2 Epics and the two direct stories are the '4'. it is ignoring the stories under the epics.

is this by design?

Hi @Richard_Donnell there are 2 options for calculating delivery progress:

  1. Simple - We count the issues which you have linked in the delivery tab.
  2. Default - We count the children of the issues you have linked in the delivery tab.

Will either of those 2 options work in your scenario?

Hi Rohan, thanks for the quick reply.

That's a really good question. Option 1 would not work for me because I have linked mixed level tickets.

Option 2 - this is what I believe has prompted my question, as that also does not work for my, I think real world, scenario - teams delivering against ideas in an organisation work in different ways, and there may be story level individual tickets in the mix alongside Epics and also Higher level tickets) - in my scenario, looking at the Jira hierarchy attached, I have a level 2 ticket with Epic and story tickets underneath, and 2 Story tickets directly attached.

Perhaps a third option of 'count all the 'Story' level tickets in the attached set of tickets would hit the spot?
