Hey, government community! We’re excited to announce a new, easy way to deploy Atlassian Data Center on security-hardened Atlassian containers, Iron Bank. You can deploy on Iron Bank if you are an existing Data Center customer or are a server customer considering an upgrade to Data Center.
What is Iron Bank?
Iron Bank is a centralized repository of secure, hardened application containers owned and maintained by the Department of Defense (DOD). This repository is part of Platform One, an initiative to enable the rapid development and deployment of secure software across the DOD. Iron Bank conducts daily security checks on all software hosted in its repository, ensuring that the applications meet or exceed the security requirements set by the US government.
With easily accessible, secure versions of Atlassian products available in Iron Bank, users can quickly and easily deploy instances at an unprecedented speed making easy and secure DevSecOps a reality for their agency. A few of the other key benefits of the Iron Bank include:
Authority to Operate
Iron Bank enables DOD customers to have continuous ATO (Authority to Operate). This means Atlassian customers don't have to go through a long ATO process (6-12 months) to get approval to use our software.
Security
Iron Bank brings accredited software to the DOD using processes and procedures that are faster and more efficient than deploying on hardware and getting your own ATO.
Images are continuously updated and maintained so that developers have access to the latest tools.
Iron Bank’s Vulnerability Assessment Tool (VAT) provides end-to-end management of image justifications for known vulnerabilities.
Support
With container-hardening standards and container images available to the larger community, Iron Bank creates a secure software supply chain for all software engineers.
Iron Bank provides a toolbox of commonly used and secured capabilities for mission apps.
If you have questions about the Iron Bank or any of Atlassian’s security features and offerings (learn more on the Data Center Roadmap!) please share them below. Thanks for being part of the Government Community!
