⚡️New Smart Values Panel in Automation for Confluence! 😍

👋 Community! Avinoam from Confluence Automation here once again, and today with a brand new smart values panel to make smart values more discoverable, intuitive to understand and use ❤️

What are smart values?

Smart values are dynamic variables that can make your rule more flexible. Each smart value is constructed using a specific syntax called dot notation inside double mustache brackets. 

What are smart values good for?

Smart values are basically dynamic variables that allow you to access and manipulate data within automation. They can add significant power and complexity to your rules. For example:

• the smart value {{now.plusDays(5)}} references the current time and adds 5 days to it

• {{page.created}} prints the date and time that a Confluence page was created

What have we changed?

Up till now, you had to either look through documentation to know which smart values are available and how to add them correctly for them to work - which made them hard to discover, let alone use properly.

From now - whenever you see the double brackets icon in a field you can simply click them to get the smart values side panel which will allow you to search through all smart values, broken down by type, and to quickly copy them for use.

When it will be available?

This is already available to all Confluence Premium and Enterprise customers!

This is such a simple yet incredible piece of functionality added to the automation engine.

I have always been a huge fan of smart values for the exact reasons you described above @AvinoamThe ability to add data based on other information is what can make a good rule a great rule. But it did always rely on people knowing the syntax and where to look for available options. Big up your team for creating a great UX move with the smart value finder. Lets hope to see this cross platform soon.
