April 22, 2024

Hello, I am Annie Lieu, a Product Manager here on the Confluence AI team.

We're excited to share that page comment summaries are now available in Beta in Confluence, powered by Atlassian Intelligence!

Our goal is to make it easy for teams to communicate and collaborate effectively. Comment summaries help everyone get up to speed on feedback quickly, saving time and making it easier to understand the context and history behind every project or work happening. 🎉

Try it out!

Atlassian Intelligence can generate a comments summary for any page or blog with two or more comments, but only when you’re viewing the page — not editing it.

To generate a comments summary:

  1. Navigate to the bottom of a Confluence page or blog post with comments you want to summarize.

  2. Select Summarize comments to the right of the comment count.

  3. Atlassian Intelligence will generate a summary of page comments, including any suggested action items.

Once Atlassian Intelligence has generated a summary, you can copy it to your clipboard, rate the quality of the summary, or provide feedback.

For pages with a lengthy thread with 5 or more comments we will display a short preview of the summary.

In the future, we’ll expand the ability to summarize comments to in-line comments, as well. Stay tuned for updates or leave feedback on this post to tell us what functionality you’d like us to add in the future.

To use Atlassian Intelligence features in Confluence, your organization admin needs to activate it from admin.atlassian.com and you must be on a Premium or Enterprise plan.

Your data using Atlassian Intelligence in Confluence

What powers Atlassian Intelligence?

Atlassian Intelligence leverages artificial intelligence developed internally and from OpenAI. It uses the Teamwork graph, which is unique to a customer's project or service work, along with internal language models and OpenAI to deliver results specific to the customer's context.

How is Atlassian protecting your data?

We apply our Privacy Principles and company values to our Atlassian Intelligence products, just as with everything else we do. We’re passionate about creating meaningful data controls, choices, and notices to foster open collaboration and deeper teamwork.

This means we embrace privacy by design in everything we do. You can find the existing Privacy Principles in our Trust Center and our Privacy Policy here.

Just like all of our products, Atlassian Intelligence is designed to fast-track collaboration and empower teams to accelerate their work. And just like getting to know how to best work with your team, understanding how Atlassian Intelligence works will help teams more effectively use it. Explore the Atlassian team playbook.

We also think it’s important for you to understand how our AI-powered products and features work, including what they can and cannot do, and how they contribute to the way that you experience our products. We believe that equipping you with the information on this page will help you make the most out of our products — and your teamwork.

This page brings a key commitment in our Responsible Technology Principles to life: Open communication, no BS.

Happy Confluence-ing!
