Who can join your teams? It’s up to you with new membership controls

One of the most common requests from Administrators is to add the option to control who can join a team. Before this update, teams were open for anyone in the organization to join and instantly become a member. Now you can choose whether or not you want to leave membership open for anyone to join or if you want to require invites or approvals for new members.

Teams created after this update will require people to request to join or get an invite from an existing member. You can make your teams open to anyone by checking this box when creating a team:

You can also turn membership controls on for existing teams by going to your team profile and selecting menu icon next to the Add people button. From there, you can open up team settings and clear the box to enable membership controls:

Teams are available in most Atlassian products, including Confluence Cloud, Jira Software Cloud, and Compass. Does this also include any sort of update on permission on who can create a team?

Great to have this for internal management, but having this option for customers to request to join organisations based on email domain is way, way more interesting.

What about a notification to the team creator once there is a new request to join ? how can we know someone requested to join?

Hi @Vernon Laquindanum from what is shown in this annoncement and this documentation, it is possible to manage the access from the "team view". I do not see it in my teams and they appear to be locked. Is this a bug? Or am I missing something?
