I saw a similar post in the App Central group, but it was nearly five years old and only had a couple of responses. In full disclosure, I am not associated with any of the following plugins. I'm just a user who really appreciates the functionality that they provide

What are your favorite Jira plugins and what is it about them that you find valuable? I use Data Center, but I would be curious to know people's thoughts regardless of whether they use DC or Cloud.

1. Scriptrunner - The overall scope and power of this plugin makes it the #1 choice for me, by far. I literally would not take a Jira admin job at a company that wouldn't pay for Scriptrunner. Highlights include (but are not limited to):

  • The ability to conditionally hide/show fields or make them required
  • The ability to run scripts on a schedule allows us to create weekly/monthly/quarterly maintenance tasks for our InfoSec teams
  • Running a myriad of script listeners that allow us to integrate our deploy cards with ServiceNow to create/update Change requests (among many other things)
  • The ability to impersonate other users, which is extremely critical for testing

2. JSU - Automation for Jira -  I had this before DC brought in Automation for Jira, but I would still want it anyways. I find that being able to add conditions/validators/post-functions directly in the workflow transitions makes it much easier, from a management perspective, to know what automations we have in place. There are similar plugins I've used like JMWE, but we don't have that where I currently work and I don't have as much experience

3. Structure  -  The ability to create hierarchical views is a game-changer for our Product Owners/Managers, and the flexibility around filtering/grouping is extremely valuable. We don't bother with Structure Gantt, because we use Structure to build out what work will be added to the Plans in Advanced Roadmaps, which is where we use the Gantt chart functionality

4.  Custom Charts for Jira - The amount of flexibility we have with creating gadgets on dashboards is increased so much. A huge bonus is the 'impersonate' ability that exists on the Custom Charts for Jira in Confluence plugin, which allows us to display Jira data on a KB page without granting users access to Jira (and the KB page makes it much simpler to consume the data).

5. Colors for Jira - While not ground-breaking, this provides functionality that is used by many teams in our IT organization to provide visibility in many different ways, particularly on their boards as an augmentation to the standard card colors functionality.

What do others think? What are your favorite plugins?
