Hardware System Requirements for Crucible for 10-100 users

Dan October 18, 2012

For a system with about 10 users that may grow to about 100 users:

This service will most likely be hosted in a VM.

How many processors should be provided?

How much memory should be provided?

How much space is required?

  • External Database will be PostgreSQL on same server

Hi,

It can be hosted in a VM. It should work as well, as long as you guarantee that the VM has enough resources.

With regards to space, this depends on the size of your instance (number of repositories, number of changesets per repository, number and size of files per changeset, etc).

With regards to the PostgreSQL database, it can be installed on the same server. Please make sure that the database version is 8.2, 8.3 or 8.4, because these are the versions supported nowadays.

Also, according to this document, these are some of the other hardware requirements:

  • CPU: 1.8GHz or higher, a single core is sufficient. More cores or higher GHz will result in better load-handling ability.
  • RAM: 1GB minimum, 2GB will provide performance "headroom". Your Java heap should be sized at 512MB with the FISHEYE_OPTS environment variable, adjustable up to 1024MB depending on performance.
  • I/O: FishEye's input/output is an important element of its overall performance. If FishEye accesses your repository remotely, make sure that the throughput is maximum and the latency minimum (ideally the servers are located in the same LAN, running at 100Mbps or faster).

Please let us know your further questions.

Cheers,
