Clover as a Code Coverage Tool for integration tests

shanika Maggamage September 22, 2014
Hi,
We are evaluating Clover as a Code Coverage Tool for integration tests. But in our case the Application exists in the remote server. Application is an java maven project. And we are executing integration tests from our local machine. Test cases are not integrated with the application code.
When the integration Tests are running on the local machine, the application deployed on the remote server(TomCat) triggers and the application code starts to execute.
Our requirement is to measure the code coverage of this running Application which resides on the remote server.
We need to make sure what methods/statements of the Application hosted on the remote server have got executed and which methods have not.
In this case Test Cases resides on a different machine and the Application is deployed in a different machine.
Please advice whether we are capable of measuring the code coverage of the remote Application in this case using Clover.

Hi Shanika,

Yes, Clover can measure code coverage of an application running on a remote server. You can find instructions how to set this up here:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CLOVER/Using+Clover+for+web+applications

Do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions - I'll be happy to guide you through the set up.

Regards
Marek

Hi Marek,

We are part of the Pearson higher education Engineering team. We are currently using Atlassian products like JIRA,Confluence and Stash.

We came across a engagement where we need to measure the code coverage of our tests. For this ,we undertook a POC against Atlassian clover trail version.

Actually we went through the above document and tried to implement it on our  project. But it didn't work for us as expected and currently we are facing lots of problems and we need to figure them out soon .

Can we have a 10 minutes call regarding on this matter.?

May I ask you to open the http://support.atlassian.com/ page and create a ticket? Just type "Clover" in a search box and next choose "Request Help" from a bottom of the page. Use your Atlassian ID to log in (or create a new account). Your evaluation license fully entitles you to get a technical support. We'll arrange call details in the ticket created.
