Hi, I'm using a custom test runner in my plan and tests are started with a regular shell script.
How can I make bamboo aware of the number of tests and of the number of tests that passed / failed after each run?

If your test result are in the JUnit/TestNG/NUnit/MSTest/MBUnit format you should use one of the test parser tasks in your plan configuration.
