Bamboo email customization

CI Engineer August 21, 2012

Hi,

I am new to Bamboo so please ignore any naivity.

As part of automated deployments I pass a particular environment variable depending on the environment where the deployment takes place. Once the deployment is sucessful the email notification is fired with the usual message of Build sucessful. Is there a way in which I can display the environment that I passed to be displayed in the email. This will ensure that people are notified about the exact environment where the deployment took place. I am passing the value as a paramter by selecting Run customized builds option. Also, is there a way in which we can have a pop up box instead of going through Run as Customized option, somewhat similar to that in other CI tools.

Hi Maverick,

Its possible to customise the email templates yourself but doing so is unsupported.

The improvement that you have suggested is a good one - I've raised an improvement request to add the customised variables to the email notifications.

Also, is there a way in which we can have a pop up box instead of going through Run as Customized option, somewhat similar to that in other CI tools.

Not entirely sure what you mean. Could you elaborate for me?

Thanks
James

Thanks James. I am looking forward to the resolution.

As for the second part of the query,

Also, is there a way in which we can have a pop up box instead of going through Run as Customized option, somewhat similar to that in other CI tools

The issue is that the parameter that I am passing to the build has to be entered as:

1. Go to the plan

2. Click on Run then Run customized

3. Enter the parameter.

Instead I was looking for an option on the dashboard itself, wherein when I click on the Play (run) button the popup to enter the parameter is shown. This would be helpful and simplify the process.
