Encrypt Database Password in dbconfig.xml or use integrated authentication

Cameron River August 22, 2011

We run JIRA 4.4 in a Windows 2008R2 environment. One issues we will have if we go into production with JIRA is that the database password for the domain service account to connect to our MSSQL 2008 server is in the clear. It'd be great if the password were encrypted or better yet use the service account credential (integrated authentication) to connect to the MSSQL database.

I have seen a post that a person was able to get it to work with JIRA 4.3 by removing the username/password lines in the xml but it does not work in 4.4.

This would be a definitely show-stopper for our company to implement this on a larger scale.

Please think about implementing this is a future fix.

Thanks!

Hi Cameron,

I understand that and so I've created this Improvement request for you: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-31004

As such, I recommend to watch and vote to increase it's popularity and the chance to be implemented soon.

Hope that Helps!

Regards,

Rodrigo
