Add existing gliffy diagram to wiki page

Bartosz Rychlicki August 1, 2012

How can I add existing gliffy diagram to my wiki page? When Im selecting Insert -> Gliffy Diagram I just see predefined templates. I've created a diagram that I've inserted before in diffrent page and I want to include it again in diffrent page. How to do that.

Hi Bartosz,

When you select Insert -> Gliffy Diagram, the window that pops up will have an Insert Diagram link in the upper right corner. Click that, and you can search for existing diagrams or view a list of recent diagrams to insert on the page.

Thanks a lot! Works like a charm!

Thanks for the answer.

Suggestion: That link should be bolded with some image next to it. Then people will not ask such questions.

They changed the way this works. In the insert Gliffy diagram window you first select "Search for a Diagram". Then there is a check box on the bottom left labeled "Link to Original Diagram". Check this box and find your diagram and then hit the "Insert Diagram" button.

Seriously, how difficult does this have to be? I am amazed I actually found it without help.

THANKS!!!

This truly sucks, I would not have found it. The fact that clicking the "link to original diagram" checkbox changes the button name from "link" to "insert" seems to be deliberately designed to be as hard to figure out as possible!

The option to add an existing diagram (not to use as a template) is not working for me anymore, both on Chrome and on Firefox.

The "fun" thing is that I need to use it to solve another problem: when the diagram is not printed out in the PDF and I need to remove and add it again.

Jason Bass September 20, 2019

Same here.

There's no option link to original diagram in the search.  So, I have to create a new instance of the same diagram each time.

To make matters worse, the only reason I've been adding the same diagram multiple times is because half the time when I use the Gliffy macro to add a diagram to a Confluence page, publish the diagram and then go back to Confluence, the diagram is not there.

Perfect, that has fixed it! Thanks very much John

Thanks John.  Link button is there and newly created diagrams are appearing in confluence page on creation.

Existing diagram in a page can be referenced via

  • Insert Macro
  • On popup select "Search For a Diagram"
  • then check "Link to Original Diagram"
  • Insert Diagram

But i have another problem.

Think there is a gliffy on the page. I removed it. I want to re-add it. But the only way found it is using the previous one as a template and add a new one.

How can we add the diagram from attachments without adding a new one to attachments? There must be a way to do this.

I have exactly the same issue! I don't want to be making multiple copies of the same diagram - I want to attach my existing diagram to a page, because right now it's not attached to anything. How do I do that?

I am currently unable to insert my existing Gliffy diagram when using Chrome, but found that it does work with FireFox.
