Passing template variables to core page elements

UoS Web Team People July 4, 2012

I have created a custom page template with a few form elements, which are used to create a standard page format within a specific space. At present when the form is completed and the 'Insert variables' button is clicked, the data is inserted into the page placeholders - the correct operation. However, what we would like to do is have another form element where you can set the title of the page before you click 'Insert variables'. Would this be possible? It would be nice to do the same for labels too.

I apprecaite that you can set the page title after you have clicked 'Insert variables', but it would help our users with one less step.

Many thanks in advance!

I was about to answer this question by telling you that it's not possible. However, I did a bit of searching online and I found a blog post from someone who was able to achieve this using the Adaptavist {compound-menuitem} macro.

Have a read of this article and hopefully it will give you some ideas on how you could achieve this: http://www.simonwheatley.co.uk/2008/01/11/confluence-templated-page-creation/

Hi Joseph,

Many thanks for your reply and apologies about the lateness of getting back to you. The information you provided is most helpful and we will certainly look into it.

Many thanks again.
