Will JIRA Portfolio be available in Cloud/OnDemand

Judy Fearn September 10, 2014

After watching the livestream of the Atlassian Summit today, I'm very interested in JIRA Portfolio.  Will it be available for Cloud (OnDemand) customers?

Can someone close this inquiry:-). It appears folks do not know that JIRA Portfolio has been Cloud-ready for months now.

Don't get me wrong...I love all Atlassian products...I really do...and this tool in particular appears to automate what I am doing now manually...

But somebody in Atlassian has to appreciate the irony in that a) you marketed to an OnDemand Customer a fantastic tool that is not yet available for OnDemand and b) the tool you are marketing is a PLANNING tool...and you can't give us a release date for it...Maybe this tool just isn't in full use yet inside Atlassian.

Anyway...just giving you guys a hard time...I'm looking forward to the tool being available for OnDemand.  It looks great.

Hey dear Cloud customer, we know you are already giving us thousands of dollars per year, but here is a fantastic product we propose you. Oh, by the way, you can't have it :). Cheers!

Hi guys,

I spoke with one of the main dev for the JIRA Portfolio team and he said that even in the worst of all cases, it shouldn't take us a year to bring JIRA Portfolio to OnDemand.

Great news, right?! smile

A year! Some sort of Aussie humour surely?

Victor Medina October 5, 2014

Indeed!

...as a seasoned (salt, pepper, orange zest) PM I cannot help but automatically doubling this estimate in my head. really? do we have to wait until 2016?

Atlassian - the JIRA Portfolio tool is exactly what we are looking for.  We are currently evaluating third party products with all the problems keeping them in step with JIRA entails.  Can you please give us a release date for JIRA Portfolio to the nearest Quarter ASAP so we can determine whether or not we can wait for you to include this OnDemand.  One obvious point to make for the future - can you please also design new features to be included for OnDemand from Day One.  It's your fastest route to market and what people expect now.  Thanks!

+1 for the request. Also, FWIW (and also in response to some of the less polite posters), I'm guessing that if this had been built in-house, Atlassian would have built for OnDemand from Day One as requested, but this was an acquisition so was built by the original authors for the on-premise version. I'm sure Atlassian is hard at work making it available for OnDemand too, now that Radiant Minds is part of Atlassian. Elisa, Richard's request is very reasonable - do you think you could please go back to your team and at least try to figure out what quarter might contain an OnDemand version?

Yes, a very interesting and great addition to the product line...did Atlassian buy Folio or competing with?

The product was developed by Radiant Minds. http://radiantminds.com/radiant-minds-is-joining-atlassian/

Yep. Folio I would say is much more focused on the financial side of portfolio management. No offense intended to the folks at by Kitologic inc.

Marc-Andre Thibodeau October 1, 2014

No offense taken Andrew! :) FOLIO is indeed primarily a portfolio *financial* management tool. And for this reason, it is not a competing solution but a complementary one if you want to do complete portfolio management inside JIRA. We are actually very happy to see JIRA becoming more and more appealing to the PPM world.

Bruce Cannon December 30, 2014

But Folio is not available for cloud/OnDemand, and doesn't appear to be coming any time soon.

I have to say, I'm extremely disappointed that OnDemand customers need to wait until (at least) March for Portfolio.

again an estimate would be great, this year, next year, 2016....

Is there an estimated date for this? Q1 2015 maybe?

Is there any update on the release date of JIRA Portfolio for the OnDemand instance?

I don't understand why will it be a challenge to release it for OnDemand instance, when it is available for on-premise instance. I expect OnDemand instances to be less customized and hence should be easier to add some new features on top of them.

Will it be a separate product or  something you get  as a complement of JIRA agile   ?

It pretty opaque to get an answer like " It probably will, we just don't have a date yet" - for we have all built JIRa into a mission critical part of our businesses.   For a company that defines the very essence of cloud management, to suggest that you haven't  given it more consideration would suggest that the product itself is not very well considered or do i get it wrong .  This seeming frustration stems from the fact that we are all avid supporters of JIRA and use On Demand as a product choice but have all the same challenges and needs. As such to get marketing focused directly at my on demand account status would hope that answers are ready when we react that this is a very prevalent need for the evolution of agile management

Sorry guys, the release date is still to be determined.

Open Company, No Bullshit ??

Kevin Smith October 9, 2014

Mmm... As much as I love Atlassian, the OnDemand neglect is really becoming a problem. If it's not ready for all platforms, it's not ready fro prime-time.
