Why remaining time of a closed subtask does not go to zero?

Hi,
I've got a question related to Jira.
Why remaining time of a closed subtask does not go to zero?
I have to manually set it to zero.
Could you help me on this?
Thanks.

Why would it need to?  If the remaining time is not zero, then you can show that you over-estimated it, and a resolved issue would not be reported as "needs more work", so you don't need to include the estimate.

That is, of course, a generalisation, and not suitable for everyone, but it's the default way JIRA works because it's generally right.

If your process needs it to go to zero, you will need to put a post-function on the "close issue" transitions.

What would you then propose for calculating sprint burndown charts? That the query should be smart enough to ignore remaining hours for "Done" subtasks?
