SourceTree license

Jan Fetyko May 15, 2012

Dear Atlassian,

I'm looking at downloading and using SourceTree, but cannot find the actual license of it. I know it is free, but what is the license. It is GPL or something else ?

Thank you.

Jan

When you start SourceTree for the first time you'll be asked to accept the EULA, which you can read for details. SourceTree is not open source but it is free (of charge).

Hello Steve, all ---

so is the EULA packaged with SourceTree v.1.6.2.2 for Mac OS X a mistake?
It states there is an "up to 30 days" evaluation period, after which purchase of a license is mandatory.

Looking very much forward to this important piece of information,

many thanks in advance for your trouble,

Paolo

Paolo, I asked the same question :). See here: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/154537/is-sourcetree-free. Here is the answer that Steve gave there:

You do still have to register after 30 days, but the registration has been free since Atlassian acquired SourceTree in late 2011.

Alexander

many thanks indeed for the fast, kind&patient, and informative reply - I guess the term "purchase" has a specific meaning in legalese I was not aware of.

(so now it's on to perusing the software -- thanks again!)

"SourceTree is not open source but it is free (of charge)."

Is this still a valid statement?

I have heard recently that Source Tree was made oss, but I cannot find the source location
