If I have an attachment that is attached to 2 pages and I delete it from one page, will it also be removed from the second page?

I had a page that had a style that I wanted to preserve, plus LOTS of attached images.

I copied this page as the base for the other pages I would write and modified the content while keeping the overall look and feel.

But now I have a WHOLE LOT of pages with many, many attachments.  I'm thinking of trimming off some of the attachment excess from the copied pages.  But on the attachment page, the only choice I see is delete.

*** If I delete an attachment from one of the copied pages, is it true that the attachment will be DELETED FROM THE REPOSITORY and thus, deleted from the original page where I intended it to be attached?  (Hmmm, perhaps a detach function is warranted.)

Hi Kathy,

When you create a copy of a page, all of the attachments are copied as well.  In your case, it sounds like you've got:

• Page A (the original page with multiple attachments)
• Page A1
• Page A2
• Page A3
• etc

Where Pages A1 and onwards are copies of Page A. 

Page A1 and onwards are entirely discrete pages with no logical link (as far as Confluence is concerned) with Page A or any of the other copies of Page A. 

If you delete an attachment from Page A, it won't affect the attachments on Page A1, A2, etc. 

If you delete an attachment from Page A1, it won't affect the attachments on Page A, A2, etc.

If you delete an attachment from Page A2, it won't affect the attachments on Page A, A1, etc.

And so on.  Does that answer your question?
