I see that the JIRA Studio Restricted Functions page: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRASTUDIO/Restricted+Functions+in+JIRA+Studio#RestrictedFunctionsinJIRAStudio-JIRA says that it's not possible to create issues via emal.

Although, it's still possible to set that in the instances. What is going to change and when? Is there any workaround?

We're currently working on some improvements to our platform which necessitate a temporary suspension of adding new external services that use protocols other than HTTP/S. Subscribers with existing POP/IMAP services configured can continue to use them during this transition period. We'll reinstate support for external services such as POP/IMAP as soon as possible, but an exact date is not yet set.

If you're allowing HTTP/S connections and not POP/IMAP, then it doesn't sound like a network issue..

It's nearly 2 months now.. What's the holdup/timeline to get this re-enabled? Or at least give us the real reason for why this is like this now.

The volume of mail I'm being forced to handle manually is making me regret going to studio, and I was the chief proponent for choosing the product.

Ok, so now we're starting to get a little pissed. When we signed up with studio, we were told this functionality was included.

Then about a month later, you began this migration to the new data center, and prevented new people from adding e-mail, but allow existing people to keep theirs.

I'll be selfish and not care about new people who sign up with studio going forward, but we signed up when this feature was available, and it was one of our needs.. So WHEN CAN WE HAVE IT?

8 months later, any news? "as soon as possible" has surely come and passed.. and from a technical standpoint, I'd like to know the holdup? OnDemand was illuded to before, but there's no good reason I can think of that "cloud" != e-mail ability.

Hi Peter,

I don't have an update for you as to when email creation from an external POP/IMAP service will be restored. It is a high priority for us but also not the only priority at this time. When I do have a target set for release of a specific feature I'm happy to share it.

In the meanwhile, JIRA's remote API is available and can be used to create issues from a remote process. I've spoken to a number of folks who use this facility to get data from email and other data feeds into JIRA.

I'm happy to discuss further at your convenience, you can reach me directly at studio-pm [at] atlassian.com.

Cheers,

Douglas

We signed up for Jira Studio understanding we'd be able to use this.. then it was taken away before we got to that part in our setup..

Still waiting for it to come back... ?

We are working on fixing the support on JIRA for OnDemand pretty soon, watch JST-5649.

The Mail Archiving in Confluence is being tracked by JST-5900

Cheers,
Felipe

This restriction is also currently preventing confluence form being able to retrieve & archive email into the space, a function I'd really like to enable.
