Is it possible to import Twiki into Confluence OnDemand?

Matt Kaufman May 9, 2012

The Confluce import documentation says:

Confluence OnDemand can only import spaces that are exported from a Confluence instance of the same major version

So I thought I could use UWC to generate a confluence export file. But the TWiki information from UWC says:

You don't need an exporter to get the TWiki page data.
The converter works from the source data files on the file system.

Alas... Is there any way to migrate a Twiki instaince to Confluence OnDemand?

You will still need UWC to convert TWiki to Confluence.

Essentially, the UWC is currently incompatible with Confluence 4.x which is used by OnDemand. Also, Confluence can only accept space backup made from the same major version (as you mentioned earlier). The process can be a bit lenghty, but here is my opinion on what you need to do.

  1. Install a Confluence 3.5.x
  2. Use UWC to convert Twiki into the Confluence instance
  3. Upgrade the Confluence instance to 4.x
  4. Export the spaces from Confluence 4.x and import them to OnDemand

Why do you recommend using Confluence 3.5.x ?
