Are Technical Tasks supported for Greenhopper Rapid Boards? I really like the new feature for Plan & Work modes, but without displaying the Technical Tasks this is not useful.

Yes they are. But as part of a parent. You can't include only techincal tasks in the rapid board.

Just as a complement to Nikhil's answer, I believe the Plan Mode in GreenHopper was developed to make Agile planning easy and dynamic. The issue here is that a "technical task" is a sub-task issuetype, and sub-tasks are hidden from backlogs or Sprints by default. Clicking on a parent issue in plan mode will reveal its children in the details panel on the right hand side.
