Can you create a page and then save it as a global template in confluence?

I want to create a few global templates for others to use, but I don't want to use wiki mark up, but the editor. Can I create the page/form and then save it as a template?

Unfortunately this is not possible right now, sorry about that. However, we have a page detailing this improvement request here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-11744

This ticket states:

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for commenting and voting on this issue. We know that WYSIWYG page templates has newfound importance with the release of Confluence 4 and we plan to have this in the next major Confluence release (4.3). In the mean time, please feel free to comment and share your page templates use cases.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

You cannot do this directly, but there is a workaround that may work for you. It was posted as a solution for a similar question at https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/42585/how-to-use-image-effects-in-a-confluence-template

1) Create a new page and restrict editing to yourself – this page will become ytour page template

2) Add all the content you wish to be in the template to this page, including the image with an effect

3) Save the page

4) Click on the tools menu

5) Right click on the menu item – Copy – and select 'Copy Link Address'

6) On another page create a link with an alias like 'Create a new <template name> page', using the link you just copied

When users click on this link Confluence will copy the page (template) you created in steps 1 to 3.

Hope that helps?

Andrew.

Hi,

With the current release of Confluence, is it now possible to save an existing page as a template? Or is the above workaround still required? My team is running 4.3.

Thanks!

Gabe
