Default starting point for users when they log in

Maciej April 3, 2012

We use Atlassian OnDemand primarily for Confluence, but when a user logs into [ourcompany].jira.com, they are taken to the JIRA dashboard. Is there a way to take them to the Confluence dashboard by default instead?

Hi Maciej,

I'm affraid that currently it is not possible to select which application will be redirected to after logging in. The only option is to make sure that users go to the wiki portion of your instance prior to logging in (https://xxxx.atlassian.net/wiki)

Or
if you are linking from another location edit the link to point it to the /wiki part.

I hope this helps

Hi, I have the same problem. This is really annoying.

Is there a way to add in the JIRA dashboard a box with some text and a link to Confluence. There are lots of gadgets available but I could not find one with a very basic text container.

Will you fix the problem above ? If so, when ?

I went to System > General Configuration > Introduction and used the following text:

Looking for [Confluence |http://your_site.atlassian.net/wiki]? Click the icon above in the top left corner (3 horizontal bars) and choose 'Confluence Dashboard' from the menu, or choose your specific Space if listed.

I've also added commonly used spaces to the Application Navigator so they can go directly to the space they need.

This is a particularly bad user experience for when we want a client to have access to confluence but not Jira in our OnDemand instance. We limit the access to Confluence-only but they still always start in a jira dashboard despite not having any access to Jira.

+1 on adding a "default starting point" feature as well
