How to get project email via new jira-api

Is there a nice way to get the project email via the new jira-api? I looked around the code and found only this way:

OFBizPropertyUtils.getPropertySet(project.getGenericValue()).getString(ProjectKeys.EMAIL_SENDER);

Unfortunately that doesn't compile with the jira-api dependency only. Is there a new manager or so that provides this mail address?
