How can I create a custom field based transition condition in jira 5.0?

Guy Shrabany March 23, 2012

Hi,

In Jira 4.0 we had workflow transitions that were dependant on a certain custom field value in a condition.
Which transition was possible was dependant on what the custom field value is.
This functionality was lost when we upgraded to 5.0.
I still have all my values, but the field value condition was dropped, and we had to remove these conditions, now both transitions are available, which leads to users making workflow mistakes.
What is the equivalent way of achieving the same in Jira 5.0?

Thanks,

I guess in Jira 4 you used the value field condition provided by the Jira Suite utilities plugin. Was it the condition described at https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/wiki/display/JSUTIL/JIRA+Suite+Utilities+Workflow+Conditions ? If yes, this plugin is also available for Jira 5. Just get it from https://plugins.atlassian.com/plugins/com.googlecode.jira-suite-utilities/version/128

It seems you are correct! I have "inherited" jira so I didn't know it, but I see it is installed on the old server.
However, I cannot enable it after installing it through the web UI. The procedure described in the documentation doesn't see correct. Do I need to copy the WEB-INF and other files in the zip manually into the plugin folder?

Hi Oren, in Jira 5 the so called V2 plugins are installed using the Universal Plugin Manager. Thisclets you update plugins without restarting Jira. You should remove any old version of your plugin from WEB-INF/lib and use UPM to install the plugin. just enter Administration mode, click Plugins and the Install tab. From there you can upload any V2 plugin. You could also manually install the plugin in the installed-plugins folder but the upload mechanism is easier
