Does hosted Jira (OnDemand) provide read-only access to the Jira DB so that I can run SQL statements for reporting purposes?

Cory Sandahl March 1, 2012

Everytime I want to answer a question about Jira projects beyond the pre-canned reports that come with Jira, I have to export to Excel, pivot, yadda, yadda. I want the ability to schedule a process that runs select SQL statements to autogenerate reports at the end of our sprints. Reading the documentation found here, it looks like this query feature may only be enabled for non-hosted Jira instances. Am I correct?

Is there a way to query hosted Jira in a similar manner?

Thanks,

Cory

Hi Cory,

That's right, OnDemand does not provide this functionality for security reasons. You could potentially write a script that uses JIRA's remote API to collate the relevant data and query on it locally.
