Some reports disappeared (for example project pivot report)

Anna Korobka May 4, 2016

Hello, yesterday everything was ok, but today I saw on my dashboard that some of my gadgets are disappeared (Gadget Error.
This gadget cannot be displayed on your dashboard. This could be due to a licensing problem or an application error. If you need this gadget, contact your administrator for assistance. Otherwise, you can remove it from your dashboard.)

When I trying to add it again - I did not find it in the list of gadgets.

Please, answer me "Why?"

The addon has recently been changed by this one:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/timereports/cloud/overview

The old addon disappears, together with the gadgets.

What am I suppose to do now?

You want me to buy that addon which was included to my standard configuration that cost 300$? What gonna be next?
I'm very disappointed.

Would you please describe me why I should pay additional fee for functions that was included in my standard plan?

Kelly Royal May 5, 2016

I'm with Anna.  Yesterday I had a project pivot gadget that our project management team used to visualize hours within Jira.  It was critical to us being able to effectively communicate status.  Today it has disappeared and you're telling me it has become a paid add on.    Why should I now have to pay for something that has been included with my license up until now?  I'm on an annual plan and I expect that he functionality I paid for should be maintained for the length of my agreement.

I'm going to join the chorus and say this is a pretty terrible move.  JIRA is all about project and team management, and time tracking seems like a fundamental part of that mission.

Taking expected content away and putting behind a paywall is never a recipe for happy customers, JIRA.

I am in the same boat.    Why do they think its ok to remove features that people use everyday?  My once high respect for the product is quickly diminishing.

Asja Đurasek Milošević May 5, 2016

I am very disappointed with JIRA. Removing features that we use every day, and which are crucial for our job and asking for more payments?? Shame on!!!

Deleted user May 5, 2016

as Kelly R and Asja Durasek Milosevic said before this make no sense! At least two options could be accepted: JIRA has to be stable for all the licence durationa period of time long OR we should be inform a couple of months (or weeks) before, depending our licence.

What is right now happening is better to be rollback to the prior situation!

also the features that we use everyday (until today..) are not even compatible with cloud any more! The features of Timesheet reports for JIRA (server installations) are not included in Time Reports for JIRA clouds (we use in our dashboards the gadgets with timesheet reports by project summarized info, specific period of time etc Features we cannot use any more! )

Same game, I procured Atlassian Cloud licences to customers and now I'm getting complaints by email and by phone and I have no solution.

I am also very disappointed. Another reason to move to Trello and forget about this tool which is giving more problems than benefits to our team. First of all, it is COMPLICATED to understand how to get the most of its features, but once you how it works Atlassian removes the main reason why you chose it in the first place.

Shame on!!

Yep, disappointing. Does anyone know if there's a way to export time spent from the work log that includes a timestamp? If that was the case, Excel would be an acceptable workaround. As it stands, I'm not aware of any other way to group time spent by a period (i.e. month) other than the now deprecated Project Pivot Report.

Any suggested workarounds would be appreciated.

Also, I was going to install the paid plug-in but was presented with the following warning. Stopped me short.

===========================================

Time Reports and Gadgets for JIRA Cloud may store your data on Andriy Zhdanov's server so it can integrate with your JIRA instance. As needed for integration, this add-on can:

  • Delete JIRA data
  • Write data to JIRA
  • Read JIRA data
cdunkel June 1, 2016

@Brendan Harrison - I'm not sure about specifically exporting time spent with a timestamp.  I know there used to be a way to create essentially a pivot table with a ton of different variables in there which you could then export to CSV or Excel, but that feature may have gone away, too.

I know my team ended up just moving to an entirely Excel-based method of tracking developer hours.  It's still very frustrating that JIRA does not offer more time-tracking features out of the box.

Brendan Harrison June 1, 2016

From what I see there's no way to export TimeSpent within a particular period. I'd like to know how many hours were logged for a particular filter in May, for example. Project pivot report did this, now there's no way to export that data, as far as I can tell. Really frustrating. Seems like table-stakes functionality.

Export to excel is possible in Timesheet report type only. See Excel icon in the end of the Options listed horizontally in the main part of the report.

As for the warning message, please see security statement, where it is everything explained.

Same here - what a raw deal.  Bad form to take this away and then start charging people for it.  This isn't the first time they have done something like this and I expect it won't be the last - before long everything will be an add on.  What kind of project management tool doesn't have some time tracking functionality as part of it...  Their time tracking was basic at best but at least they had something.  I'm thinking my company made a bad decision moving to this product - and worst part Atlassian doesn't seem to care.

I should admit that Atlassian tried their best to notify all existing users of old Timesheet about upcoming removal in December, then in February, and in March.. apparently the message still did not reach you, sorry. Here is page about it: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/jira-timesheet-reports-and-gadgets-removal-from-jira-cloud-792504481.html
As for the new report, I've tried to do my best to make it as useful as old one, but apparently I have not managed, I understand and sorry for all disappointments. It may be improved eventually, but it may take quite long.
If you have specific feature missing, please let me know here though, as it's not clear from this thread.
Slava Kutenkov May 10, 2016

The main issue now is that JIRA is a proprietary issue tracking product without time tracking system.

Taking into account that it is not a free system I'm a little confused about 'a car without wheels'.

I understand your interest as you are an author of the plugin, but the issue is in the system itself. What will they do next? Will they ask for money for every user's login? Or for every page view or something like that? ))

Replaced add-on used to be provided by me for free, since 2007 or so, it became paid add-on in 2011, but remained free for JIRA Cloud. Now I've had to develop same add-on using different technologies, I tried my best to make it as close as possible, but of course not everything is the same.
So looking from perspective of free/paid of course I understand all disappointments, but I've tried to make it cheap, and set the minimum price.
Slava Kutenkov May 10, 2016

Hi Andriy,

I really appreciate your efforts! Please don't get me wrong, my claim is addressed to Jira, not to you :)

Have a good day!
