How do I enter a qualified Undefined Link?

It is sometimes useful, as a reminder, to add a link to a page that I intend to create later (undefined link). If that page needs to be parented by another page, how does one accomplish it?

With little success I inferred and attempted ( Edit | Insert | Markup ):
[~space~parentPage:NewPage]

It appears this isn't possible. In fact, it seems Confluence is no longer really a Wiki. It provides similar, perhaps even superior, features to be sure. However, I am finding it cumbersome and bloated. I won't recommend it where a simple Wiki is indicated.

Of course Confluence is undoubtedly a fine productivity tool meeting some other set of needs; especially as integrated with the full Atlassian suite.

It very much is a wiki - it allows (and encourages) a community of users to add and edit (and collaborate on) a set of pages that provide content to be shared.  If you read that sentence without the stuff I added in (braces), then you have a wiki.  I added () to suggest that Confluence has additional benefits on top of being a wiki.  Even ignoring my additions, it absolutely meets the definition of a wiki.

Missing a minor feature that most other wikis don't do either doesn't demote it.  It just means it doesn't happen for this type of wiki.

But.  You are absolutely right to say it's not a "simple" wiki.  It could be, but it tends to offer you the advanced stuff a lot, so I never describe it as simple.

We could quibble over the definition of a "true wiki" but, no need. I'll concede it is very wiki like; as is SharePoint Wiki (sort of). Anecdotally, my experience is that most Wikis do indeed support markup; Mediawiki, DokuWiki, FlexWiki to name a few with which I am familiar.

For what it's worth, it strikes me as quite peculiar for Confluence to remove Wiki markup, citing it as a barrier to entry, and to then add "advanced stuff" that is an equal barrier to entry - at least from my limited experience trying to champion it.

I totally agree that this is a casic wiki characteristic that has to be part of every wiki.

Unfortunately an informative and useful dialog that was once here is now missing.

The once accepted answer is that this is simply no longer supported. It cannot be done. 

FWIW there was also a meaningful dialog regarding Atlassian's decision to morph Confluence into "Team Collaboration Software" - away from its Wiki roots.

I +1'd that because of the use of (real).  I still type markup, it works fine for new blocks of text.  "Create" is not really a worry for me.  Edit - nope, I still want to see the markup!

I'm afraid I don't have an answer though.  I have a bad habit of using [page name, but not one that exists yet]  to remind myself that I need to create the pages, but although that works for creating child pages by clicking the resultant link, there's no way to define the desired parent that I can find.
