JIRA gadgets in Confluence - can't get anything to stick in "Project or Saved Filter" field

I've integrated my Confluence and JIRA instance. Everything works perfectly except for adding JIRA Gadgets to a confluence page where there's a "Project or Saved Filter" required to configure the gadget. The auto type never shows up (as it does when I would add the gadget in JIRA), and no matter what I put in, I get a "No project or filter specified." error when I hit "Save".

Anyone know what I might be doing wrong, or how to debug this?

I have JIRA 4.2.3 and Confluence 4.1.3. I don't see any errors in the logs.

I worked with Atlassian support for several hours, we weren't able to fix it in my 4.2.3 instance.

When I upgrade my JIRA to 5.0.1, the problem went away.
