Confluence Space Permissioning not allowing non-confluence groups

Jesse Penning December 1, 2015

Hi all.

I am trying to give a client, for a specific project, access to that projects space Only. I assigned that group under that space to be able to view, add pages, and 1 or 2 others, however when they log into our Jira, and click on the shared link, they get an access denied page. How do I give groups that do not have full confluence access, the ability to view specific spaces?

Hi Jesse,

Seems that this is happening because the group has permission to view the space, but doesn't have the permission to use Confluence. You'll need to grant this group the "can use" permission on the Global Permissions page.

Thanks.

Hi Jesse,

Complementing Luiz's answer above. Confluence has a permissive security type, which means that first you allow the users to access everything and then you block their access to specific parts of Confluence.

The way you are trying to configure would be a strict one and allow the access of specific users to only some parts of Confluence.

In order to achieve this, you must allow this user to use confluence (create a group that does not have access to any space in confluence admin -> global permissions) and grant can use permission to this group and the should be placed inside.

After that you need to restrict the page of some space just to this specific user and just him will be able to see the page.

Cheers,

Rodrigo
