JIRA Install

Michael Marshall November 30, 2015

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Installing JIRA applications on Linux

When I install the 32-bit JIRA on an Ubuntu-32 VM, I get:

  1. tar: bin/ControlPanel: Cannot create symlink to 'jcontrol': Protocol error
  2. a bunch of other "Protocol error" s during install
  3. I get this guy during the GUI setup:
    image2015-11-30 14:22:40.png
  4. Then when the page is reloaded I get this:
    image2015-11-30 14:24:32.png

Any ideas?

I'm installing as root, going step by step...

Hello Michael,

The second screen seems to be related to your plugins not being able to load in the default time (60 seconds). By this reason, use the following KB as reference and increase the timeout from these plugins to 300 seconds.

In case if you still face any error after this, use your log files (<JIRA-HOME>/log/atlassian-jira.log) in order to see the root cause of this issue (Feel free to paste the mentioned log file in this post where we can give you a better help) .
