jira email notification service blocked by my server antivirus

Prasob kumar kp November 27, 2015

Recently i noticed that, JIRA notification are getting blocked by server antivirus. When i cross checked there is an option in antivirus to add trusted email client.

how do i add JIRA to this list. since JIRA is hosted in my windows server, only .exe files can be added as trusted email clients in antivirus.

tired to add tomcat to trusted email clients list. but that didn't work.

which file of JIRA should i add as trusted email client? and where can i find that file in JIRA directory?

That doesn't sound right to me - JIRA notifications are outgoing emails, and that route is simple - JIRA talks to a mail server, and that's what sends the email.

There is nothing there for your antivirus software to actually accept as valid.

I think you need to look at what the antivirus is actually doing here - is it scanning incoming email?  Is it doing it on the server, or on the email client (which could be Outlook, Mac Mail, a webmail service, etc etc etc)?

To add to the comments by @Nic Brough [Adaptavist] I would also do a double check on the settings for the outgoing mail be sending a test email to confirm that your connections are correct and working. If this email is also blocked then you can look at the settings in your mail to confirm what is used as the default email address. (Remember each notification scheme also has the option to change the sender address). Within the anti-virus you should then be able to add the email addresses to your whitelist as an approved email address. Hope this helps Phill
