Hello,

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to create a template that has two sub-pages. These would both be created when the main template is created.

If it's not possible to do this with a template, is it possible with a blueprint?

This question has been posed before, but that was some time ago now, and at that time it wasn't possible: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/100206/confluence-create-multiple-pages-and-sub-pages-from-a-template

I've looked in the docs but can't find anything specific about it.

We're running download 5.4.3.

Cheers.

It's not currently built into the product. (see related feature request at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-34208)

Bill,

Thanks for the info, I've voted on that! How quickly will one vote get it into production? :)

One of the things I tried was creating the template with two links to pages that didn't exist. These were given proper names, so when they were clicked, they automatically made the new page.

This works fine but only for the first time they are used. So:

  • User A uses the templates with the fake links. They then click the links to automatically create the new pages. The user does their thing, then saves the pages. All good.
  • User B uses the template, but this time the links are shown as having been clicked on. If they follow the links, they are taken to the pages created by User A, and therefore cannot create new pages

Is this because of having the same page names? I expected Confluence to create a second set of pages, so, when the user tried to save them, they'd get the duplicate name error and have to rename them. Can you think of any way around this?

Cheers.

Instead of adding a link to a non-existent page, you might try including a Create from Template macro on the page. This macro displays a button on the page; when a user clicks the button, Confluence creates a new page based on a specified page template (or page blueprint): https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF54/Create+from+Template+Macro.

Hi Mick Davidson,

Our add-on Yoikee Creator allows you to create space templates (i.e., space blueprints) by means of mind maps. You draw the structure of your space template in a mind map, where the nodes become pages in the space. Thus, the hierarchy of nodes-sub nodes become the structure of pages-sub pages in the space.

So, you create once a mind map, and you can create as many spaces as you need with the same structure of pages (consistent spaces).

Give it a try and send us feedback!

We are about to release the 2.0 version, where you can choose page blueprints in the nodes (JIRA reports, blog post, file list, etc), mind maps can be embedded on pages, new rendering engine, and many more new features.

Regards,

Gorka

is this product EOL?

Version 2 has not been released and so far we could use this add-on if we were able to create template spaces where the subpages has templates, text and other predefined data on the pages.

So far the simple skeleton is not enough in most cases.

Hi, the version 1.2 of Yoikee Creator has been released. This version has a new macro to embed mind maps within pages and allows you to select page blueprints directly on the mind map nodes. Give it a try!

Hi Mick,

Our Add-on Page Tree Creator works a bit different than the Confluence blueprints / templates. The PTC-templates are based on normal confluence pages and can have entire page trees. Start the process by clicking a button or choosing the menu item, fill out the form and the page tree gets created.

Try our Live Examples (no registration needed).

Marketplace link: Page Tree Creator.

Regards,
Stephan
