i want to access my JIRA installation on Port 80. System: CentOS7 Jira-Version: 7.0.0
I edited the server.xml from
Connector port="8080"
to
Connector port="80"
and set the jira-user into the root-group with
usermod -a -G root jira
But if i want to open the server-url, there is no connection
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
After restarting the service JIRA

You can also integrate JIRA with Apache. That way you don't need to start JIRA as a root user and the Apache would act as a reverse proxy responding on port 80 and redirecting the connections to JIRA on port 8080. Port 80 is within the "reserved" port range (up to 1024), and so requires root to bind to. I have to guess you aren't starting JIRA as the root user.
