I originally asked this at https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/38210/what-happens-to-the-old-jira-link-after-you-move-an-issue-to-another-project/319498

Is there a way (over REST) to find the new issueKey for an old issueKey such that if an "add work log" call fails the application can pursue what where the time should be filed?

Thanks, Martin

Just request the issue resource using the old key or search using old key. It will return the new issue resource and that will have the new key.
