Why does calculated number field not appear in estimation statistic drop down?

I have created a calculated number custom field and, whilst I can see it in the issue navigator etc for each issue, it doesn't appear as a means by which I can set the burndown estimation statistic for my Agile board, i.e. it doesn't appear in the drop-down list of options. Why is this please?

Here the explaination to setup statistics for the agile board. Once this is done only then it will appear as statistics field in the gadget.

Still I am not sure if the calculated field will be available to set statistics on. But you can give it a try.
