How do I make sure my cloud instance is only upgraded to Jira Core?

We only use JIRA for issue tracking and have never used JIRA Agile. We do not want our Atlassian-hosted JIRA instance to be upgraded to JIRA Software, we want it to be upgraded to JIRA Core.

I just logged into JIRA as the admin and I don't see any opportunity to do this "upgrade" manually.

How do I make sure this automatic upgrade works as we want?

To give you a more step by step answer:

  1. Wait for October 11th (PST) to happen; you will be setup so that your next bill will be for JIRA Software (at the same prices that you are currently paying).
  2. Go to the Discover New Applications page in the Billing section of your Cloud site.
  3. Activate JIRA Core.
  4. When JIRA Core is active use the User Management tools to give all of your JIRA Software users JIRA Core access.
  5. Go to Manage Applications in the Billing section of your Cloud site and deactivate JIRA Software.

Now you have officially migrated to JIRA Core and your users will all have permission to access JIRA core.

Please let me know if those instructions are not clear enough. smile Also, maybe give JIRA Software a try for a bit, it costs you exactly the same amount for a few months and you might enjoy the features that it provides. If not then these steps will apply at any point in time. Cheers and good luck!

So as to reduce the possibility of problems with your upgrade, we want to migrate all instances consistently. This means we will be migrating your instance to JIRA Software (which was previously JIRA & JIRA Agile).

The good news is we're giving you 3 months free access to JIRA Software, after which point we'll start charging you for Software usage. For now we'll continue to charge you at the same rate prior to the upgrade. If you find you like it, you can continue to use Software at the additional cost after the 3 months period has passed. If not, it's easy to downgrade back to Core (for some or all users) prior to this period. Remember we charge for application usage which means you can have different license tiers for Core and Software that was not previously available (before all license tiers had to be the same).
