The options I see is that confluence allows me to watch a page or a entire space.  Is there a way (plugin). To be able to watch a page and all of its Children?

this behavior would be similar to how restrict pages work.

Hi @Christian Roestel

This functionality is available as part of the Enterprise Notifications plugin. Here's a link: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.adaptavist.confluence.enterpriseNotifications

This plugin has been archived. There for I can't find any way of doing that.

Yes, we dumped it because it can all be done in ScriptRunner far more easily.

Not available in Confluence Cloud

Wendy Emerman November 1, 2018

For Confluence Cloud, is there a way to watch a page and all of it's children?  Above, it says an answer was accepted, but I don't see an acceptable answer.  Should we start a ticket for this?

Wendy Emerman February 20, 2019

How can this conversation be labeled SOLVED?  It's still not available!

Because it was solved when it was asked 5 years ago.

There is no solution for Cloud still though, the architecture doesn't allow for it yet.

Wendy Emerman February 22, 2019

Three things for people looking at this question.

1)  Resolved means the question was answered, but the answer is not necessarily here, and the issue is not necessarily resolved.

2)  This issue for Cloud is still an open ticket, and has been for 15 years:  https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-2853

3) The issue for Cloud can be resolved by buying a plug-in, which is probably why they never intend to fix this feature.

People like the features of this plug-in, and you can try it for free.  After that, a drawback might be that you pay monthly for the plug-in based on your amount of users.

So just in case anyone see's this, this thread is now super confusing.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- had stated that they ditched the separate plugin, and included all functionality into scriptrunner.

As of this post, this is now split back OUT of scriptrunner and into it's own add-on. We got hit by this when we installed a scriptrunner update on march 10th, and lost this functionality.

In addition, the notifier marketplace listing says that they are about to drop the plugin and flatten into scriptrunner, despite that seemingly being done already, and now Adaptavist is seemingly going the opposite direction.

Very confusing for end users to research when things break if the marketing and documentation is not consistent.

It is confusing, but the history is now:

  1. Notifications as an independent plugin for Confluence
  2. Notifications merged into Scriptrunner
  3. Notifications moved out again, but as a plugin for Scriptrunner, rather than Confluence

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- ,

Thank you for the explanation, I believe that will help others researching this.

One thing to note, the current marketplace listing for the "new" plugin says this as the first line of the description:

❗IMPORTANT: The Notifications app will soon be entirely integrated within ScriptRunner for Confluence, and its capabilities will be extended.❗

Andra Dinu October 12, 2020

Hi Jeff,

I can confirm that Notifications has been completely integrated inside ScriptRunner for Confluence and you can now watch a page and all its children using ScriptRunner:   https://scriptrunner.adaptavist.com/latest/confluence/descendants.html?_ga=2.226291418.1588686043.1602491996-754019334.1600680697

So, as an update to Nic's history, it now looks like:

  1. Notifications as an independent plugin for Confluence
  2. Notifications merged into Scriptrunner
  3. Notifications moved out again, but as a plugin for Scriptrunner, rather than Confluence
  4. Notifications merged into ScriptRunner again (and with improvements) - and final, this time

Best,

Andra - ScriptRunner Marketing

Hi Andra,

quick follow-up to this: Are Notifications also available for the Confluence Cloud Solution?

We just started our free trial of ScriptRunnter and I cannot find this feature and could also not find a link on how to access this feature in ScriptRunner.

Thanks

Camilla

Andra Dinu April 7, 2021

Hi Camilla,

This is not available on ScriptRunner for Confluence Cloud yet, but we are looking to possibly add it in the future. Here is the ticket for it, you can watch it and be notified when the feature is added: https://adaptavistlabs.atlassian.net/browse/SFCC-324

Thank you,

Andra

I have found this app "Tree View", but didn't test it, yet:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1213286/tree-view?hosting=datacenter

"Watch and un-watch a tree with just one click"

"Manage your tree watches from your personal menu"

Can anybody recommend this extension?

Hello,

Everyone is mentioning that this is not available in the Cloud version. No one has mentioned Server. Is that because it's a non-issue? I'd also like to do this, and we're on server 6.9.0.

For anybody still searching for a cloud solution, have a look at the Deep Watch plugin. It allows you to watch a hole page tree with a single click and you’ll get notified for new, changed and moved pages below the watched page.

Disclaimer: I am the author of that add-on.

Brent_Eubanks November 18, 2019

The link you posted is dead.  Is the plugin still available somewhere?  Or another solution to provide this (basic and obvious) feature for cloud?
