Hi

I recently set up a user directory; Internal with LDAP authentication on confluence 4.3.

All parameters were set correctly and i was able to test the connection, and it was successful. Which i then saved.

I then try to log in using one of the LDAP user accounts (which i know for sure exists on LDAP with the correct configurations)

But i get an error everytime. I get this error even for other users.

2014-06-24 07:17:17,396 WARN [http-8090-22] [atlassian.seraph.auth.DefaultAuthenticator] login login : 'user1' tried to login but they do not have USE permission or weren't found. Deleting remember me cookie.

2014-06-24 07:17:26,630 WARN [http-8090-33] [atlassian.seraph.auth.DefaultAuthenticator] login login : 'user2' tried to login but they do not have USE permission or weren't found. Deleting remember me cookie.

Also note that we have the same LDAP authentication on JIRA and for a test i copied over all the configs form jira over to confluence, but it keeps giving me the same error as above, (whilst it is working fine on jira)

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks for your help in advance

Rahul

In the user Management, click on the create user.

Update the user name (LDAP UserName), select the Delegated LDAP,  password (don't mention any password), provide the full user name,  email details  and check the option to "Send the Notification to Email". So that user can change the password once he logged in.

Is it possible to inform the Base DN set on Confluence and the LDIF information from the affected user who cannot login?

Hi Rahul,

Try going to Confluence Admin->Groups, search for the confluence-users group and add both users there.

tried to login but they do not have USE permission or weren't found

This error means the login was succesful, but the user has no right to access Confluence. That will be granted by adding them to confluence-users group.

Best regards,

Felipe Alencastro

Hi Felipe

I did go into the group and added both users to confluence_users group again although i am pretty sure both were already added to those default groups.

I then tried to login again using those user accounts but its still the same. Same error in the logs and the same error on front end.

ON front end the error m essage i get is

  • Sorry, your username and password are incorrect. Please try again.

What else can i try?

Hi Rahul, I see you mentioned confluence_users (with underscore "_"), but by default the group with permission to log in Confluence is confluence-users (with dash "-"), you may want to check the Global permissions page to see if the user is member of the correct group with permission to log in Confluence.

Cheers
