Crash on launch (Windows 7)

Dan Hennion June 10, 2014

Hi,

I'm not sure what triggered this, it seemed to just stop working one day. I have an install on a windows 7 machine at work that will no longer load. The program simply crashes every time I try to run it. I don't have admin on this machine, but my boss spent a few hours trying to get it to work. From my understanding, he reinstalled the program a few times, cleared appdata, cleared registry entries. Still couldn't get it to work. I'll try my best without admin to provide details for diagnosis. Here's the crash report on launch:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:	APPCRASH
  Application Name:	SourceTree.exe
  Application Version:	1.5.1.0
  Application Timestamp:	53426321
  Fault Module Name:	clr.dll
  Fault Module Version:	4.0.30319.18444
  Fault Module Timestamp:	52717f9a
  Exception Code:	c0000005
  Exception Offset:	000000000006c892
  OS Version:	6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
  Locale ID:	1033
  Additional Information 1:	e5fd
  Additional Information 2:	e5fde5ac9bc271f1ffbb142eb609eec7
  Additional Information 3:	6d16
  Additional Information 4:	6d164edf93c39c20ec43125205a33640

I looked for a log file in: %USER%\AppData\Local\Atlassian\SourceTree But only have a user.config at the moment.

Help appreciated, thanks!

Thank you, Henrique. The link you provided does not seem to be working, unfortunately.

Sorry the broken link Daniel,

Could you please try download the version 1.4.1? I'm sending to you the link:

I made sure to completely remove the old version, remove registry keys, appdata, etc. I tried both 1.4.1 as well as the most recent version (slightly newer than what was on this machine) but unfortunately I still get the same crash no matter what.

I am also having the same problem after installing 1.6.14 on windows7. any resolution?

Freddy Hansen March 11, 2015

Me too. Win 7. Sourcetree 1.6.14. Tried uninstall and install old version - same problem.

Robert Swainson May 12, 2015

I saw this issue today with Win 7 64 bit and Sourctree 1.6.14. A repair on Microsoft .NET framework 4.5.2 fixed it for me.

Hi Daniel,

I suggest you to try an old SourceTree version on this computer, then we can further investigate if it's not a bug.

To help you further I'm sharing here the link to SourceTree 1.4.2 for windows from the official Atlassian website:

And please share your results with us :)

Kind Regards,

Henrique Lechner

Henrique, are you an Atlassian employee? Some of your responses seem to imply so ("we can further investigate"), but other Atlassian employees have "[Atlassian]" in their name.

Seth, Yes I work for Atlassian :)

I've also updated my nickname to reflect it.

It's good to share the results of the tests, so it helps other users who faced the same issue.

I agree that it's often good for these discussions to be public. It's just nice to know whether an answer/suggestion is coming from a community member or staff.
