Hi,

Has upgraded JIRA from 5.0.5 to 6.1.7 and found that the sort order of custom field of type select with different contexts has changed.

In the old version the field was sorted alphabetically.

In the new version it is sorted depending on position in the select list.

Is there a way to get it sorted alphabetically in the new version?

Regards,

Michael Danielsson

JIRA 6 has the an option in the Admin UI to sort the options alphabetically, so you should go to each custom field configuration screen and choose "Edit Options" and Click on the Sort link

Hi,

What I can see this will not change anything when looking in the issue navigator.
If sorting on the field it will only consider the position in the select lists for the differnt contexts.

Which sort order are you exactly refereing to ? What I understood originally was that when you have a select field and you use it on edit issue screen for example the order of the items there is wrong (items not alphabetically sorted).

Hi

Sorry for the badly formulated question.

What I want to do is to sort, issues in the issue navigator, by a custom field of select type. This custom field also have more than one context.

In the older version of JIRA this sort was done alphabetically but in the new version it is sorted by the position in the select list for the different contexts.

I hope this explanation gives you an idea of what I want to achive.

:) Okay now I understand. So this is not a bug but feature :).

See here:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-31106

So to get alphabetical sorting do what I've suggested - sort the options in each context alphabetically and then you'll get alphabetical sort in the issue navigator as the position of the options will match alphabetical sorting.

Problem: Business has lots of Epics (about 70). Each Epic have cf "% Priority" number field from 0 to 100.

Is there any possibility to sort them via drag and drop in backlog and automaticaly change value of this cf ?
