stash upgrade from 2.10.1 to 2.12.1 failed; database scheme could not be updated

Hello,

I wanted to upgrade my stash version from 2.10.1 to 2.12.1 but it was not possible. I did it like I always do (successfully) since version 2.7 and as decribed in the upgrade notes from Atlassian. I backed up my database and my data folder and then use a fresh copy of the application (atlassian-stash-2.12.1). I changed the data path & provided a mysql JDBC Connector (mysql-connector-java-5.1.26-bin.jar). When i try to start the stash service I only get an error screen (see screenshot) with the message that the database scheme could not be updated. Now i searched at the logs what happend and I get a lot of severe errors. Too much to insert them in this question but most of them tell that the web application created threads which causes memory leaks. (for different reasons). When I delete all files and do a rollback it works fine again. I also tested to install stash 2.12.1 without any backup files (completly new) and it also works, so I am able to exclude the possiblities that my database version is not supported or that my JDBC Connector isn't working.

I also use Confluence 5.4.3 and JIRA 6.2 which I connected via Application links to stash.

If more information is needed to help please ask.

I would appreciate help. Thanks in advance

This answer could be solved with the atlassian support. (It was necessary to perform an upgrade from 2.10.1 to 2.11.6 and then from 2.11.6 to 2.12.1)

Hi Frank,

Can you open a support request on https://support.atlassian.comand upload your atlassian-stash.log file that was contains the error logging?

Cheers,

Michael
