automated space export and import

Tomas Klima March 31, 2014
Hello, We would like to have 2 Confluence installations and we are searching for an option how to export a space from one instance and import it to the other automatically. The export seems to be quite easy by using the Confluence command line interface but unfortunatelly, there is no option for importing a space. Is there a way how to do this? Thanks and regards, Tomas

The Confluence Command Line Interface doesn't have a space import because there wasn't a remote API for it. Open an improvement request and will review some of the new APIs that are becoming available.

Also be aware of copySpace and other copy actions. They have a targetServer parameter.

Hi,

the copySpace action with the targetServer parameter works perfectly for us.

Thanks a lot for your help

Good. Make sure you use all the appropriate copy parameters to cover things you need in your use case (like attachments and permisssions). Be aware that it is not equivalent to save and restore, but does cover many use cases.

Hi Tomas,

I couldn't find a way to import the space automatically as well. That might not be possible at the moment. You may want to reach the plugin vendor and check if this is possible or they have some improvement request open already.

Cheers,

Rodrigo
