how to make jql search with wild character * with colon in search string

Suneet Gupta March 17, 2014

I am facing an issue in jql search while using wild character * with colon.

for eg. if any issue summary is "attributeName:SQAROM for automation"and then tried to use jql search by

summary ~ "attributeName*ROM*" , it doesn't provide any search results.

but when I removed colon from the summary and made jql search with above expression, it return the respective issue.

Can you please suggest how to use wild character * with colon in search string.

I think this is related to the bugs listed below. The same issue seems to occur if you use any of the "special" characters like the one below and also a white space char.

+ - & | ! ( ) { } [ ] ^ ~ * ? \ :

Currently I can't think of any reasonable workaround.
