User mentions doesn't work in Confluence

cnxYves January 19, 2014

Hi

We're not able to use user mentions in our Confluence instance. If I type an "@" and start typing the Name, Confluence can't find any user. It can't even find my own user. All users can log in and are able to see the site where I'm trying to use the user mention. We're using Active Directory for user authentication and all users are added to the default confluence-user group.

Thanks for you help!

Okay I found the problem. I just had to rebuild the search index and now it's working.

Rebuilding just the search indexes is enough. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Yves,

Have you try to rebuild indeces from scatch? Confluence @ mention require rely on lucene index and if the index was not built properly, the feature will not work.

Hi Jing,

Thanks for your help. I tried that but it didn't solved the problem. Maybe I have to delete the "edge" folder aswell? Also, if I click on "People" it says "No users found.". That's really strange, because I can login with our Active Directory accounts.

I just checked the CONTENT table in my database and all USERINFO rows have no titles. Maybe this could cause those problems?

This is not really an acceptable answer for an "enterprise" software solution.

We encounter this on a regular basis for new users joining our 20,000-user Confluence Data Center system.

Even a UI-driven re-index cripples the site for more than 10 hours.  Shutting the entire system down to re-index as you describe just to add a single user is not practical.

Who said it was "enterprise"? :) Atlassian? :)

Try this:

- insert this user temporary on global permission (all permission)

- try to mention user

- remove this user on global permission (all permission)

Antonio

@Antonio Bosio, just wanted to chime in and say that this resolved the problem on our Confluence instance.  Thank you for the suggestion!

We cannot mention users who have a Chinese username. I tried to do the following steps and it works.

1. Refer to this page, unable-to-mention-certain-users-in-confluence. re-index system

2. http://url-to-confluence.com/admin/search-indexes.actionrebuild the search index

3. use "[" + username to mention users not suggested by confluence

In my case, i did a reindexed and also i inserted the user temporary on global permission and it didn't work.

Seeing that nothing worked and as final resource i deleted the user and then i created it again. After that, it worked
