Can I make work descriptions visible as comments on the issue detail view on the board?

We need to see the information entered in the work description (from the log work screen) when looking at an issue on the agile board.

Do you mean, on the rapid boards? That is not possible. You can only show issue attributes, which include original estimate, time spent and remaining estimate. Work description is not treated like a custom field value.
